Turkish fine Sivas rug (217 x 145cm)

This very fine rug was made in a workshop in the Sivas area of East Turkey, which was set up by Tabriz merchants and resembles Tabriz weaving. The dark blue field is decorated with with lions, goats, deer and various birds. The rug has a reweave (very well done) seen more easily verso in one of the photos.
